The Star Wars party hat that Sally Ride signed is themed "The Empire Strikes Back" (we happened to be at the same party!). The flimsy elastic found in typical party hats is pretty well shot, although it is still in the hat. There is some slight tearing and creasing around the bottom edges of the hat and there is a tiny pin hole at the seam on the back of the hat, but not anywhere close to the signature. The hat has been stored in a bag for many years, so it is lightly flattened in half. I placed it over a funnel when I took photos of it, so you can see it's not a sharp fold. I found the perfect box to ship it in so it will not be flattened further.
